Alpha Bio Tec, part of the Nobel Biocare corporation, has released a new dental implant called ICE. Tough the implant is not yet available in the UK we have acquired a few copies and will conduct our own research on the product.

The implant itself represents an excellent compromise between the corporation’s own traditional Dual Fit implant and the extremely popular Spiral implant system.

While Dual Fit was vowed by many as too traditional in the today market an only recommended for very dense bone, the same time the Spiral received much criticism as being too aggressive and suitable only for soft bone.

We at Dent1st have placed many thousands of both Alpha Bio’s Spiral and Dual Fit implant and we agree to the above criticism only partly. Using the Spiral and also the Dual Fit in our practice was extremely successful; however we very much welcome the new implant as a clever and outstanding solution for creating an all-around implant system that can be used in all types of bone without any compromise and added risk.
